Journal History

Devotionis: Journal of Community Service was officially established in January 2024, marked by the publication of its Volume 1, Issue 1. This initial edition was the result of an initiative by CV. Totus Tuus, a publisher based in South Buru Regency, Maluku Province, Indonesia, committed to the dissemination of community service innovations, research-based practices, and social empowerment strategies.

The journal was created as an academic platform to accommodate original works related to community service, covering a broad spectrum of topics such as education, health, technology, environmental sustainability, and cultural empowerment. The establishment of Devotionis aligns with the increasing emphasis on tri dharma perguruan tinggi, particularly the pillar of pengabdian kepada masyarakat (community service), within Indonesian higher education institutions.

In April 2024, the journal applied for its electronic International Standard Serial Number (e-ISSN) and was officially registered under the number 3047-5260 by the Pusat Nasional ISSN Indonesia – BRIN on 13 May 2024. It adopts a double-blind peer review process to ensure the academic rigor and integrity of every published article.

With a biannual publication frequency, Devotionis quickly garnered attention for its focus on integrating academic research with real-world community development. In January 2025, the journal published Volume 2, Issue 1, which expanded its reach by showcasing diverse initiatives—from parenting education and school-community engagement to cultural tourism and literacy enhancement—reflecting its growing relevance and impact.

Under the editorial leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paul Arjanto, the journal continues to evolve with the support of contributors across disciplines and institutions. It maintains an open access policy, enabling global readership and knowledge sharing without barriers.

As of today, Devotionis remains a vibrant publication channel that promotes sustainable community development, participatory action, and applied research outcomes. It serves not only as an academic forum but also as a collaborative bridge between universities, educators, local governments, and civil society organizations.
