Author Guidelines

DEVOTIONIS: Journal of Community Service

DEVOTIONIS: Journal of Community Service publishes peer-reviewed articles focusing on the implementation of science, technology, art, humanities, and cross-disciplinary knowledge for community empowerment. All manuscripts submitted must meet the academic standards and editorial requirements outlined below.

  1. Manuscript Types and Section Policies

1.1. Original Articles (Community Service Research Articles)

  • Description: Reports on systematic community service activities that apply scientific, technological, artistic, or humanistic methods to solve real-world problems and empower communities.
  • Structure: Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, References.
  • Word Count: 2,000–8,000 words.
  • Review Process: Double-blind peer review.
  • Language: Indonesian or English.
  • Access: Open Access.

1.2. Community Service Project Reports

  • Description: Formal reports on institutional service activities, routine programs, or collaborative initiatives carried out by educators, students, or community-based organizations.
  • Structure: Objectives, Implementation Methods, Activity Outcomes, Evaluation, and Follow-Up Plans.
  • Word Count: 2,000–5,000 words.
  • Review Process: Editorial review.
  • Access: Open Access.

1.3. Literature Review Articles

  • Description: In-depth reviews of recent literature addressing models, approaches, theories, and methodologies of community service and engagement.
  • Word Count: 2,000–7,000 words.
  • Review Process: Double-blind peer review.
  • Additional Requirements: At least 25 references, 80% of which must be primary sources published in the last 10 years.
  • Access: Open Access.
  1. General Formatting Guidelines
  • Font: Times New Roman, 11 pt, 1.15 spacing, A4 paper size.
  • Margin: 2.5 cm on all sides.
  • Title: Maximum 15 words in Indonesian or 12 words in English, bold, 13 pt.
  • Author Information: Full names (without titles), institutional affiliation, and corresponding author email must be included below the title.
  • Abstract: 200–250 words, written in English (even if the manuscript is in Indonesian), summarizing background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusion.
  • Keywords: 3–5 words, alphabetical order, not phrases, and not part of the title.
  1. References and Citation Style
  • Citation Format: APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition.
  • Tools: Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Minimum References: 15 for all articles; 25 for literature reviews.
  • Primary Sources: At least 80% must be peer-reviewed journal articles or primary research published within the last 10 years.
  1. Plagiarism Check

All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening using detection software such as Turnitin or equivalent. The similarity index must be below 20%, with no individual source exceeding 3%. Manuscripts that fail this requirement will be returned for revision or rejected.

  1. Submission and Processing
  • Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system.
  • There is no submission fee.
  • Upon acceptance, authors are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 25 USD or IDR 250,000.
  • Authors may request a waiver for APC in specific cases.
  1. Ethical Guidelines

DEVOTIONIS adheres to ethical publication practices in accordance with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Authors must ensure:

  • The originality of their manuscript.
  • No simultaneous submission to other journals.
  • Proper acknowledgment of all contributors and funding sources.
  1. Licensing and Copyright

All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright but grant the journal the right of first publication.
